I used to have an HDA Mystique 7.1 that did DD Live but what it seemed to do which was key to why I liked it, was send a constant DD signal to my amp via optical. This meant that the amp was always making an attempt to split the signal accordingly. What I am finding with the Xonar is that it seems to send the DD signal literally as and when it thinks it needs it. This means that even during the speaker test the amp is switching thus: on "left front", off, on "centre", off, on "right front" and so. The problem comes in that the change from one speaker to the next is faster than the amp can actually switch and consequently misses half of the signal tests. It also doesn't seem to make any effort to even offer Dolby Pro Logic from a stereo signal.
