Asus Xonar (DGX) and Windows 8 RTM

Hey guys, been trying to get this working for the past 4 hours and got nowhere. I have two issues

1) Control Panel (either Asus one or CPanel) do not start after reboot. I've tried both official and unified drivers to no avail. The control panel just DOESNT want to start after installation reboot. It runs fine when you just installed, but after a reboot, good luck getting it to run.

2) Front Panel auto switching. ***? Is it for real that the Asus Xonar cannot auto switch when you plug something in front panel?? My onboard sound card can do that! (I am prettu sure I connected front panel to sound card, as I can manually switch to it (when control panel works))

If anyone knows how to resolve these issues, or has any suggestions what to try, PLEASE let me know..

You'll probably have more luck googling for this kind of issue tbh. There might be a 3rd party/ community driver available for Windows 8 and your soundcard or you could try to see if there are beta drivers available from AMD/Xonar.

Failing that... It's a new OS and soundcard manufacturers seem to suck balls at updating drivers quickly! It was like this when Win7 came out and it was months before official drivers were available.

Ive actually been googling for the past few hours, with no luck. Usually people post their problems, and not the solutions, why I started a new thread, hopefully someone has got around this!

Welcome to the world of IT support :P Nothing more frustrating than finding a thread from someone who had the same issue and fixed it and then either lists no fix or something like 'I reinstalled Windows' lol :(

Never worked this one out on my DX with Windows 7 either, but it doesn't bother me that much.

Wait until Windows 8 is ofiically released, hopefully better drivers will be out for it then.

It's a bug. Has been a bug for years and will continue to be a bug (resided my DX to this many moons ago) :(

See if that works for you.

Alternatively, there is another work around, albeit "messy".

Save your registry files for your Xonar settings when you've got your speaker set up.
Change to headphone (Or FP headphone, whatever) then restart. Save those registry settings. Obviously you'd have had to already have done this in W7.

You can now change settings via importing the registry settings and restarting each time you want to.

Indeed thats a bit messy.. How would you switch from front panel to read, and from dolby headphones to 2.1 stereo?

edit: anyway this wont work as I only got single boot W8

The first part isn't about what I posted, so try the top link.
Obviously you'd need to uninstall drivers first.

For your question, all you'd do is make a registry file of each setting you want, so if you want X combo you'd just use Y registry file, etc.

Yay, both show stopping fixes for me have been fixed with these new drivers.

- As mentioned, Control panel refuses to load after a reboot. New Drivers installed, rebooted and panel loaded up perfectly fine.

- Everytime I put PC in sleep mode, the Xonar control panel would default to the front panel, I always had to change it back. Once rebooted - I couldn't change it back. New Drivers installed, does not default to FP.
