Asus Xonar DGX Virtual Sound

I have a 5.1 creative speaker set and i purchased an Asus Xonar DGX 5.1 sound card today. Is there any way to get both side/rear sound from rear speakers? When i set my speakers as 5.1 in Asus audio center, there is also a 7.1 Virtual Sound option. Is that option a good way to get rear sound?

The 7.1 virtual speaker setting is for upmixing audio to 7.1. An example is; if a game outputs audio as only stereo or no more than 5.1, but the speakers are 7.1, then 7.1 virtual speaker will upmix that audio to 7.1.

As you have 5.1 speakers, this is of no benefit of using that.

And if you're worried about missing some sounds, any properly made software should mix all of its sounds to channel configuration audio stack of Windows shows available.
