I received my Asus Xonar DX today. Tested it on my dad's PC with XP 32bit it worked perfertly fine, but after installing it into my PC (Win7 64bit Retail) and installing the driver, windows will have all sort of random problem, such as Skype, MSN and antivirus program won't start/run, and crashing in games. Uninstalling the driver, all the problems are gone.

So I was wondering if anyone with Win7 64bit with the Asus Xonar DX soundcard has/had similiar problem, and got any idea for solution. I already tried google, but only topics I can find are with the Win7 beta, not the retail version. I've tried both PCI-E slots, but same problems. Also, I was using the latest driver, and even the previous driver from Asus site, still same problems.

My motherboard is MSI P6N SLI V2.

I've used the DX with 7 x64 with no issues, and am now running the D1 (PCI version of the DX). What I've noticed today (upon installing my GTX480) is that the control panel won't start, though the drivers still work as I can get sound and use 'Configure' in Windows.

Asus needs to sort its software out, though this has been known for some time...

Kinda works in XP SP3 compatibility mode...

I think I got it sorted now.

Used the method by bobkn at #3 at that forum topic, most issues have been solved (MSN can't sign in, but may be caused by something else will try to get that sorted out later).

Also, I was playing F.E.A.R., and I think enabling HW Mixing was causing problems/errors. I leave it off now but with just EAX2.0 enable the game seem to be fine.

Mine's now working fine in Vista compatibility mode...

Glad you got it vaguely sorted. Asus really need to sort their drivers and software out. Still better than Creative though.

you plugged in the power cable to it?
Yes of course. Everything seem to have solved except MSN still refused to sign-in...

Edited: Running the Xonar DX Audio Centre with Vista Service Pack 2 compatability mode fix the can't sign-in on MSN problem after reboot my PC. Still getting odd problems in F.E.A.R., but that's not too important.

I have some games that don't work or crash on launch if the GX toggle (think it's the EAX emulation) is on in the control panel. Turn it off and the games then work. Could be something to do with that.

The sample rate being set too high sometimes cuases problems in certain games too i found, prototype for example would have insane speeded up sound if i had the sample rate set at over 44.1khz.

I move the soundcard from the PCI-E slot below the graphic card back to the the PCI-E slot above the graphic card (don't want to affect airflow to the graphic card). Because of that, Win7 installed the driver again using the existing driver. Then the same problem of various program won't run when entering windows is back again. I've uninstalled the driver, rebooted and used the method I mentioned before (install the latest driver, then the patch then reboot), and still having problem with running programs such as Skype, Anti-virus etc, and running FFXIV bench crashes everytime. I've repeat and tried a few times, but still doesn't solve the problem.

So if anyone using Asus Xonar DX with Win7 64-bit, I REALLY could use some help like a step by step guide for installation (like any specific driver/patch I should use), and anything I need to avoid on the Asus Xonar DX Audtio Centre.
