Asus Xonar DX sound far too loud

Hello,

I've had my Xonar for over a year now which was my first dedicated sound card moving from on-board. I have no issues with the card itself the audio quality is great.

Only thing that has always bothered me is the sound volume. It is unbelievably loud. My friend also has this card and he says he doesn't have the same issue I do.

I wouldn't really call it an "issue" but I do a lot of recording and streaming and I can never get my audio balance right because for me my audio is far too loud when gaming so I have to set my audio in-game to near enough nothing for it to be bearable. When streaming the audio quality is really weakened as it doesn't hardly pick up the game sound. In Sony Vegas I can easily increase the volume but for streaming it isn't possible.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with their card? I would really like to find a solution to fix this problem and find a workaround that works for both sides.

Thanks!

Just a stab in the dark but have you got the resistance too high for your headphones?

Can you go into more detail? How do I check? Do you mean the mixer part in the xonar control panel?

I think the default on that is about 75% volume which is really loud so I normally just turn the volume down on everything. Wasn't sure which would effect my sound volume when recording.

My headphones are Sennheiser HD595.

I think I was doing this the wrong way around.

I was leaving master volume turned up to 100% while turning down my applications. Instead of turning the master volume down and the applications up. Then that seems to pick up my sound better.

So I guess there isn't anything wrong after all it was just the way I was setup.

Silly mistake, I didn't really notice until I started to stream again.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway!
