I've had this card for a week now but just wanted to Clarify how to enable the GX mode. On the software to enable it, the GX button is always green and so is the text. Does this mean its on all the time? Apart from the button colour change i can't see any other visual indicator that its enabled.

Can anyone clarify this please.

Yep thats it. Hit the button again so its no longer green to disable. Makes very little difference if its on or not soundwise but you will find lots of games crash with it enabled!

Only game i found which doesn't like GX being enabled, is Stalker Shadow Of Chernobyl.

When its enabled, i get no gunfire sounds from any of my wepaons, but when its off, its perfect.

Pretty sure i've played Bioshock with it on, not tried Assassins Creed though.

I have most certainly played UT3 and GoW though while using it without problem, and that is the same engine as Bioshock.

Bioshock works with EAX with GX on. I get a little quiet crackling though. Despite the glitch I'd rather play with it on.

Assassin's Creed is fine but echoing can get a bit exaggerated.

Mass Effect is fine with newer drivers (and only with GX off IIRC). Music didn't work before.

I'm having to use software mode in Rome: Total War (and I hear Medieval II is the same). With GX on and EAX2 several it starts fine but several sounds go missing during play. EAX3 and above refuse to work. Several other older games still have problems.

I got a xonar today, but the control panel i have (windows 7) has no GX button, i need to be able to turn it off as its interfering with Fallout.

Help would be appreciated!

More recent drivers fixed the Rome: Total War EAX2 problem. EAX3 still doesn't work.

I think Bledd mentioned some working W7 drivers and patch in another thread.

Edit: Have you tried this? http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx...d=21&model=Xonar+D2/PM&page=1&SLanguage=en-us

I also fixed my own problem, uninstalled the drivers i had and reinstalled, fallout working now :)

Cracking sound, i was wondering whether id really notice much difference over onboard sound, but its really night and day.
