Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some help.

I've bought Ripjaws V Series F4-3200C16D-16GVR 16 GB (8 GBx2) DDR4 3200 MHz C16 1.35 V Memory Kit for my mobo, Asus Z170-A. I couldn't go through POST with them and I've got the F4-3200c16q-16grkd but still no POST.

This one is on Asus QVL list: F4-3200C16Q-16GRK so I think this is the same I have bought.

I tried every possible combination with these DDRs.

If I have one memory in A1 or A2 slots - the red ram led is on.

When in B1 or B2 slots - ram led is okay, the system is checking everything and I'm stuck with the boot disk led on.

I feel that the mobo needs to be replaced, or should I try another set of DDRs?
Is it the 3200 that makes problems? (I have i5 6600K installed)

I would be very grateful for any advice!

Is your bios at defaults?? Try with one stick at a time, if they both work on there own and you get to windows see if there is a newer bios and update and try again with both sticks installed. If it still fails run memtest, if no errors found RMA the board.

Does sound like a board issue tbh.

Dissconect all drives, and try a stick in every slot to see if you can get to bios. May also be worth checking the cpu socket for any bent pins.

Edit: 24 & 8 pin power connected?

Out of interest if this isn't returned/sorted did you try using the 'MemOK' button? That's what its for, not all the RAM speeds/timings are compatible out the box so you press that and the Asus board downclocks so it posts... From there you configure the timings either manually or using XMP.

There is a reason they added the button... Not sure if you tried it or its too late.

Try resetting the CMOS. If not and have tested the Memory then it sounds like a DOA board. Please contact the retailer and arrange a replacement, sorry you had issues. Regards

Thank you guys I tried both, resetting CMOC and pressing the MemOK button.
After examining the cpu socket, I've noticed some pins not aligned like others.
But why was the cpu led off and ram on instead?

Bear in mind the memory controller is on the cpu - so bent or misaligned pins in the socket can cause this very issue. I would rma the board and maybe ram as well and start again. A pain I know.

Have one question though, I have external usb ports on top of the case. They were working with old mobo and usb 2.0. I have few usb 3.0 ports on the new mobo and I wonder, if I buy proper cable, will that work as usb 3.0?
