ASUS Z690 PRIME Z690-P D4 - No CPU flash ?

So I'm toying with the idea of a 13900k, looking to do it on the 'cheap' with my existing DDR4 & a Z690 motherboard.
Everything about the Z-690-P D4 ticks the boxes. But I'm unsure if I'll be able to flash the bios without a CPU. I'm not sure what this feature is called on Asus board nowadays. This apparently has EZ Flash 3 - but the manual makes no mention of the need for a CPU or not.
I don't have a compatable Intel CPU to use for flashing.
Anyone know ?
Cheers.

Sadly it looks like that board doesn’t have Flashback. If a board has it, it will mentioned in the USB port specs. Also the port is labelled as such in the rear I/O shield.

Sorry, I'm not clear, do you already own the board with no CPU?

If you're buying new the bios should be the latest (or you can at least ask the store if it is)

If buying second hand I'm sure a decent current owner would update it.

No, I haven't bought the board yet. My understanding was it's very common for the boards to have whatever BIOS was available at manufacture date. So it could be potentially quite old. I wouldn't have thought the retailer would be opening boards & updating, although maybe they might do it at customer request. More food for thought, thanks.

I've just come across this too, looks like I'm stuck unless I have a 12th gen I can drop it to flash it to the latest BIOS.

I’ll send my Z690-P back it seems, swap it for a different motherboard that has a USB BIOS flash.

This is old and I know that but you're saying the board should work with a 13th gen intel processor if it's brand new? So unless newegg is selling me an old board I won't have to find a 12th gen to update it?

No idea on US stores and how it works over there TBH.

Newegg listing says '*May require a BIOS update to boot the 13th gen Intel® Core™ desktop processors.'

Best guess: read the latest user reviews, but unfortunately there's no guaranteed way to tell unless the board is a new revision.
