Asus Z97-A BOOT_DEVICE_LED

Every now and then my new Z97 A boots till the Asus logo with

"Press F2 or DEL to enter BIOS"

and stops there.

The BOOT_DEVICE_LED is on and nothing else happens.
Then I reboot, nothing.
I unplug 1 SATA cable, an other SATA cable, still nothing (there are 2 in total).

Then after 1 or 2 more reboot, it finally gets to BIOS and then I can reattach everything and it works.

Found similar issues online, but no solution.

The rest of the system is i5-4460, HyperX Fury 8+8 GB, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB and a Hitachi mechanical disk.

Any idea?

Have you tried updating to the latest bios?

yes,

1st time BIOS rev was 2205, then I done exactly that and 2nd failure was with 2401.

Contacted Asus and they suggested me a CMOS reset removing the battery etc... let's see.

But a google search seems to indicated this is definitely not a single case.

I had the same problem with my Maximus Ranger VII.

I seemed to fix it by going in to BIOS, and setting the USB configuration Legacy USB support to disabled also set Intel xHCI to auto instead of smart auto.

I have been booting up for a few weeks now with out any problem.
