Asymmetric tyres

My rear tyres are nearing replacement, and the front ones will be the same in about 10k (roughly half worn after 15k). I want to try something different which is a good all round tyre (having spun both front P6000s in 4th from 30mph today), so I've been thinking about asymmetrics.

I don't want something that will wear out fast. I need 195/55R15s (maybe take 195/50R15s which seem to be about 60% of the price), and want to spend a ball park £75 a corner, I can get them fitted free. Are there any such tyres or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Tyres with different patterns on each half, typically a wet focussed tread pattern on the inside, and a dry focussed tread patten on the outside.

I assume he means Eagles?

Why would you pick a specific tread pattern like that - surely just pick the best performing tyre and if it happens to be Assymetric, great, if not, oh dear?
