At £300 for power what GPU...

The RX5700 probably makes more sense as it is more powerful and has more VRAM. If you can get an RTX2060 Super for not much more it would be a good alternative too.

I'd take the 5700, try and go for someone like Sapphire.
I could be completely wrong, but it does seem to be the cheaper cards which are experiencing more driver issues. The better built and cooled cards seem to work a bit better. Not saying the drivers are perfect but don't think all of the issues are related to the drivers, some seem to be iffy cards or other compatibility/system issues.

The 5700 is faster, the 2060 has fewer issues/is more mature.

I have the 5700 Reference GPU and the performance is great, Temps are pretty good for a reference card aswell during games.

have you tried flashing the XT bios, i been told that have a good unlock rate

looking at the replays i thing the 5700 is the way to go.

I haven't, I've heard its a good gain though... I've undervolted it from 1024mv down to 960mv thats about all i've done :)

I've heard people gaining 10-15% by flashing to a 5700XT bios.

As long as you don't mind potentially having to fiddle about due to software issues the 5700 gets my vote, faster card with more VRAM.

Sort of sucks looking at GPU prices right now though, you could pick up a 5700XT for £330 from OCUK not so long ago.

Just people reporting driver issues for the 5700 series, you might never encounter them.
I've been listening to people complain about AMD drivers for years and I've never personally had any issues tbh.

if its just a general driver problem, we have 2 AMD GPU's in the house now and have no problems

dose ther reference card have a bios switch?
the reference costs more than MSI's but it have a better unlock chance but i 100% want a bios switch

I'm not sure how the BIOS is changed on the GPU i was tempted to give it ago but will have to look at some videos on how

I've not had any driver issues with my 5700 or even my previous AMD cards (590 & 580) maybe ive got lucky ;)
