At £300 for power what GPU...

Recently picked up 2 of the MSI 5700 Gaming X cards and for the price I'm blown away with the quality and how silent these cards are with zero coil whine under all conditions in both mine and my daughters set-up.

I`d pick up a 5700 now there is no point waiting for the 3xxx series cards only to be disappointed because you cant buy them as there is no stock/limited stock. Probably get at least 6-8 months good use out of the 5700 before any new card comes available and keeping it would be fine for few years anyway. Also gives you the opportunity to see what comes out with AMD by next year. I just think there is going to be an awful lot of disappointed people waiting for the 3xxx series and it being really good yet the stock will be miniscule.

£300 odds, your best bet is MSI Gaming RX 5700 and flash the XT bios, it will provide the best value atm. If you need to go nvidia grab the 2060 Super, not as valuable as the RX but still close, however it lacks 2GB of extra VRAM which could reduce life span of card compared to the AMD card, especially on high resolutions using high textures.

Mind me asking what card you came from? My vega 56 pulse is noisy, even with the fans held back manually through software. Looking for something a little quieter and the 5700 gaming x seems to be the best I have come across in the region of £300ish for performance/low noise levels from the reviews I read

5700 XT or a 2nd hand 1080Ti when the pricing settles down

Just no.

A second hand 1080ti is not a good option.

If prices do settle down the 2070 super could be £350 new.

It was £400 at Christmas so that isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

But to speculate and then advise he spend £350 on a 4 year old gpu with no warranty is madness.

Especially when he can get a 5700 new for that much right now.

If I had to buy right now I'd get a 1650 super and just play at 1080p or lower all settings.

I'd then re evaluate when the next gen launches. I don't see any reason to be buying expensive cards new or second hand right now as they are all overpriced.

I would use 2070 super brand new for £400 as the benchmark to beat.

I personally would want a 2080 super second hand for £350 to even think about going second hand.
