At a total Loss :(

Hey im totally stuck......

To cut a long story short i cant get PC past POST

Specs

AMD opty 170
DFI SLI-DR (skt 939)
2gb DDR PC4000
ATI X1800xt (PCIE) / 2mb S3 Card (pci)
250gb HDD
enermax 420w PSU / Corsair HX520 (brand new today)

Right basically i replaced an old pc with the components above which are from this current pc that i have just upgraded to c2d.

after putting all the components in to the case it booted to POST there is a constant clicking noise coming from the speaker and apparently according to the DFI faq that means there is a Power issue.

So i bought a new PSU a corsair HX520 its just arrived and i get the same problem.

the other issue is at post it says Press F1 to Continue but i can not get any of my keyboards to work :| i have tried 3 PS2 and 1 USB and none of them work.

Im at a total loss as what to do next apart from buy a new Mobo.

Any help would be fantastic

If the system is hanging at the post screen have you tried disconnecting the Hard drive from the motherboard. If the hard drive does not solve the problem try using just one stick of memory at a time.
 
bios drivers?

never had to do that in any of my other builds.

i have cleared the bios a few times

cant get access to the bios as cant get any keyboards to work
 
the mobo has been working fine for 2 years the bios was fine when i removed it for the system.

the clicking sounds like a button on the keyboard has been held down for to long but the keyboards dont work :|
 
Try:
  • Reset CMOS
  • Disconnect & reconnect cables, GFX, etc just to make sure nothing is loose or bent

Sounds like a mobo issue - to be honest you have tried everything possible in my book - the last thing i would try a new HD. Failing that get a new mobo - they are dirt cheap really.
 
It cant be the hard drive if it does the same with out any drives connected, try just having the motherboard, psu and graphics connected and see if it posts that dunt work its new mobo time
 
OMG OMG OMG

just boxing it all up to put it away for a rainy day and what lands in my lap.....

a little jumper

had a look where it came from and it was off the PS2 power thingy

put the jumper back on and bingo

how the hell did that come off tho :|

i normally make my self look stupid but this really does take the mick!!!
