At what point do you fill up?

At what point do you fill up, i normally wait till the notch before E before ill brim the tank, just curious what everyone else does, random thread i know but im bored

im a student, depends on when i have money

if i dont it will get right down to the bottom of th red before I can scrounge money or get paid, if I have money then I just keep it abvoe the halfway usually

Depends but lately I've been waiting for the trip to read 0 miles left before I think about filling up, adds a bit more fun to the driving experience.

i have this curious obsession about only putting full tanks in

and about running it as close to the wire as possible

it feels strange filling up when the car is half full :confused:

Depending on where I am when it tells me, anywhere between 50 and 20 miles remaining.

Wow that's early i have to get at least another 50-100 miles out of a diesel when it hits the low fuel light and just before it splutters to death with a petrol

Even though the fuel gauge in my car has never been 100% accurate, i just fill it when it gets into the red.

Depends on how poor I am, where I need to go, but usually when the dash tells me between 60 and 80 miles to go.

Clarkson's game is pretty amusing, drive the car til the fuel light comes on, then go past the next petrol station. Wait for the needle to bend around the bottom of the guage, then carry on driving and hope that you make it home. If you get there without running out, you win. Plus, with any luck, your wife takes the car out in the morning and fills it up for you.

My fuel gauge doesn't work (constantly reads full

) so whenever my trip counter reads 300 Miles or so.

Usualy when there is about 200 miles left in the tank.

I don't like leaving it less then that in case I need to go somewhere quickly and don't want to stop.

normally when the light has been on for a few days

even then, its usually just a tenner that goes in

my clio has a 2nd tank (to prevent surges or something :confused:

)... and i can be sitting at a junction/traffic lights/in traffic/whatever and the fuel pump will be whining away telling me i have no fuel

its just extra weight though, innit
