I recently bought Atari 50 for the PS5, its a brilliant little walk through history (obviously most of the games on it are pretty old and dull) but quite a few nice remakes and some quality Atari Jaguar emulation.

Well the guy that made the emulator for it has been allowed to launch it as a standalone emulator

Obviously its not the best library but its the first jaguar emulator to run all commercial games and well worth a look.

Yeah i have been tempted but i am not really gonna pay £50 for it.

Thought there was already a Jaguar Emulator (Albeit non official) that could play the commercial games.

It would have been nice if they offered a slight revamped/recoloured/rejigged version of the games to bring them up to date to make them worth playing rather than just the original version.

Yes there has been atari jag emulators in the past but this is the first one that plays all of the games and as intended, consider it an officially licenced emulator and has the blessing of the developer to be released publically too.

Excellent emulator. Will help preserve the memory of the jaguar.
How long has this guy been working on it to just come out of the blue and destroy all other emulators that have been at it for decades?

The guy has been a developer for 30 or so years and worked on a lot of things including some PC games. If you read his blog its quite exhaustive. Sad thing is he is dying of cancer. I read his message recently the other day and it is really really sad. Sounds like he has a few months to live.
The emulator he has written is 100% compatible and is probably one of the best. He has already made allowances for all his source code to live on after he departs and possible it might get released in the public domain.

One of the devs of a CFW OS for the retro handhelds systems asked if he could produce a version for linux of the Jaguar emulator (this was before the aforementioned announcement) so it can be used as a standalone emulator and with all he has going on he said he would look into it but dont be surprised if all of a sudden nothing happens. Sounds like a really decent guy and we realised then what he meant with the last few words.

I just ordered this as it's on a deal today for 21.99. So went for the Switch version. Fortunately thanks to this thread I became aware of this collection, as otherwise it would have passed me by.

Looking forward to playing the modern take on Yars Revenge and playing some Tempest 2000 again.
