A bit of Googling suggests the ath9k driver from MadWifi works in n mode for this chipset. Depending on what distro you use, it could even work out of the box in Linux by now (most of the stuff I read was a year or more old). Did you try any live CDs yet? Worth a go. I suggest Linux Mint (based on the latest Ubuntu) as it's pretty bleeding edge but stable, and as a bonus is set up for multimedia (codecs, flash etc) OOTB.
A bit of time on Google and the Linux Mint forums searching for ath9k and AR5008 should yield some decent results for you. Good luck.
EDIT: Yup, any distro comprising kernel v 2.6.27 or above will include ath9k. You can read more here and this thread.
ive found openwrt has the ath9k driver available. im going to have to install the x86 version. and compile the ath9k driver as its not installed by default.
