Athlon 1400 with this ram ?

You probably want the memory forum, you might get more replies!

I assume you mean a 1400 Thunderbird (classic Athlon) rather than an Athlon XP at 1400MHz? The 1400 TBird came in two versions - 14*100 and 10.5*133. So, you really need to know which one it is (though faster memory almost always runs fine at a lower speed).

Also, I'm sure my old Athlon 1400 (TBird) ran DDR memory not SDR (PC2100 rather than PC133). I can't remember, but there might have been motherboards that would run the 1400 TBird with SDR memory. In which case, you really need to know what type of DIMMs the motherboard takes.

If it is SDR then PC133 should work (even on a 100FSB version of the chip). Otherwise, for a DDR motherboard PC2100 would be a safe bet.

Hope this helps,

Martin

If you don't have the memory yet I'd just get PC133 as it probably costs around the same now secondhand. You can always run the RAM at a lower rated speed if necessary.
