I've an Athlon 2400+ how much improvement can I expect from a new kit ??

I don't what though my mobo won't take any more powerful chip :D :D

My nebula TV card is a bit slow tbh ;)

erm ....

I want at least twice as fast I don't think I'll noticed otherwise.

(not allowed here but a flash hard disk would be good too)

If you do windows work, or any serious processing a dual core will just leave the 2400xp for dust, I know, I made the move.

A decently clocked A64 will leave it for dust also i'd expect.

An overclocked S754 Sempron will leave it for dust and cost you less than a ton including a mobo...

...But now, for so little extra you can tbh get so much more, and I'm a sempron fanboy

Just as cheap to get a a64/s939 mobo now-a-days.

I agree. I was mostly trying to point out that semprons can be had for less than a meal for two and would whip a 2400+. Although to do it proper they would need to be overclocked...

...obviously :D

I went from an Athlon 2000+ XP to a Sempron 2800+ 754 and the new system was much much faster. As other posters have mentioned, you will have to overclock it but it represents tremendous value. The Sempron 2800+ runs at 1.6GHz stock but can be increased to 2.4GHz+ with a decent motherboard (DFI NF3). I recently sold the Sempron with the DFI NF3 and 1Gb of RAM on ebay (i got a paltry £80!).

Thats why I'm gonna keep both my Sammy 64 setup til the end of time <hugs media centre which cost about £350 including antec case>

I'm only now thinking of upgrading and thats only because a mate gave me a Venice 3k for building and Oc'ing his 79' SLI 170 Opty @ 2.8 monster.

MSI Neo 2 Plat 939 mobo B grade (£20) at a certain online retailer...
