athlon 5350's

I've looked at some reviews for you and it's hard to tell. In taxing games it probably wouldn't be acceptable (10-25 FPS at low resolutions) but there are no numbers for simpler games.

One reviewer on ocuk states it can run "far cry 1 at 1080p with ultra settings and no probs", which I suppose puts it at least as fast as a top-end card from 2006. That's pretty good for £44.

If you're after a very low budget machine for games the worst you could do is try it, and buy a GPU later if it's unacceptable. In this hexus review the numbers with a 750 Ti aren't that far off a 4770K, making this CPU good value for money paired with a low-mid-range GPU.

edit: the answer with sims 3 is, yes!

Isn't he using a 6870 on the Sims video?

I'd never personally use a 5350 for more than a NUC/Netbook. Steam Streaming it'd probably be flawless (If AMD GPU Decoding works correctly)

the chips certainly capable for certain games but the IGPU is not Afaik . providing you've got something willing to use up the PCIE x 4 it should be golden for a Low powered rig , is it pcie 3.0? On these boards, forgot to check my gigabyte Am1 board.

My 5150 running standalone for my TS server but may get a cheap card that would just about saturate the BUS

These things may only be low power chips but they pack a punch for the price and includes better IPC then pile driver

I don't know about those games but I just built a basic pc for surfing the internet using 5350 and lets say it struggles with 4K videos on YouTube, very laggy and processors all up to 100%, from my understanding this is a problem with the on board encoder as my intel tablet can play 4k videos on you tube no problem.

Not really, because with a GPU (750 or 260) you won't be using the integrated GPU in the CPU. If you go down that road you may as well get something like a Pentium K or AMD 6300.

Thing is the AMD board for the 5350 only costs twenty one quid (pound sign seems to have broken on my keyboard)

But yes, it's a bit of a false economy if you need to buy a discrete GPU but at 61 quid or less for an AIO it's a no brainer.
