Hi guys
I am currently running an A64 3500 @ 2.4 on a DFI ultra-d mobo.
I cant decide if I should upgrade to a core 2 system or not.
How much faster would the system be?
The pc is used for gaming and Photoshop CS

Thanks

on benchies it would blow away the AMD

but you should notice improvements in photoshop/gaming and the like as well

ya, get 2 gb of ram and a good C2D and you should be laughing with SuperPi times well under 20 seconds!

id like to know what times your rig gets atm on the superpi 1m

I dont really use super pi. Im only interested in a big real time improvement.
This is what im thinking of getting
Asus P5B Deluxe
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 or OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400

I will use my own X1900xt Q3
Tagan PSU
and win Vista

Forget benchmarks, they're completely pointless apart from attempting to evaluate how fast a CPU can process useful everyday tasks. In any case you will notice a huge improvement in all aspects of everyday computing with the E6600.

super pi is an old becnhmark
not many people use its not that reliable

AMDGeeks.net use a modded version of it! And i use it to see how much improvement i get by changing clocks and memory timings as it's also very sensitive to timings as well as clock speed.
