Athlon 64 X2 4200+ or Pentium D 820??

A friend is looking to buy a complete system, the only real difference between the two he's looking at is the CPU's above. And the AMD has a better g.card.

Just wondered which is faster?

He has credit card at the ready so a fast reply would be great

The X2 4200+ will be faster in games, especially when the rig has better GFX card.

You need to OC that 820 to well over 3ghz, maybe close to 3.6 / 3.8Ghz to keep up in games, plus it runs very hot and consumes a lot more power...

All in all - the X2 rig.

The AMD system definitely. If it is not a C2D system, AMD still has the upper hand, especially in games.
