Athlon A64 3000+ Vs X2 Dual Core 4200+

I am assuming the x2 4200 would be preferred over the x2 3800?
It is essentially the final throw of the dice to get as much from this S939 system as possible which has served me sooo well. When I do change, it will mean new Mobo, New CPU and New RAM
Also, I am a little disappointed at having just installed the X1950, I expected a GIANT improvement over my X800XL but I am getting a definite "lag" in some games... I would have thought I could run HL2 with max settings at 1024x768 for example but it doesnt.
Also, Flight Sim X runs TERRIBLY so I am guessing that these games are more CPU than VGA intensive? Anyhow, will raise this in the VGA Card forum.
