Right i have a biostar M7vif Motherboard with a kt333 chipset. This board is capable of running from 133mhz to 166mhz and i am using 333MHZ Ram.

Now the pronblem being when i run the barton and set the fsb to 166mhz the pc will not even boot to post. Yet it will run unstable set at 154mhz. Now the pc wont even boot at all now even with cmos reset. It was running at 1.9ghz when set at 154fsb has it died i have put a sempron on this board to see if it boots. It does yet i have the same problem will run the at 154fsb giving 1.4ghz. Yet it should run at 166fsb 1.5ghz. I can not change Vcore or anything any advice. Thanks by the way i can only change fsb in the bios why wont it run at 166mhz what am i missing.
 
motherboard could well be dying, memory could be having issues, cpu sounds ok as you can replicate the exact same problem with a second cpu, if you can borrow a stick of memory off a friend try that in there, if it works fine it would point to motherboard being on its way out
 
Yeah dont know what has happened, turned of the pc to adjust the cases cpu temp probe re- seated the fan turned on nothing no bios no boot. put the sempron chipmback on and i fires back up. Tried athlon again nothing.
