When I removed the heatsink, most of the four corner pads came off on the bottom of the heatsink. I plab on fitting a new Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu flower heatsink. With the pads practically gone on the cpu, is this going to cause a problem?

Has anyone ever replaced these pads, or could recommend anything?

a lot of my socket A cpus have lost all pads.. no issues but be a bit more careful when installiing the sink and don't lean to any one side as those pads help prevent chipping/cracking the core. You could stick em back on.

I would, but they've gone very brittle and just crumble when I try to remove them from the old heatsink. I'll try it without. The Zalman screws down onto mountings, so it should be okay to tighten it gently.

Bah, people i know who've used shims have sometimes fallen victim to the shim being slightly too high and end up roasting their cpu instead :D Never used and never will use em.
