Hi,

Just a quick question - what card(s) would I need to be looking at as a single card solution for similar or better dx9 performance than my current ati 1900xt crossfire setup? I know the nvidia 8800GTX Ultra is most likely to be, but is there anything closer & cheaper?

I'm also a little confused with all the cards flying around at the mo - which of the modern cards had similar performance to the 1900xt? Just to help me get a benchmark against my current cards/rig so I can consider best value for money etc.

Thanks.

To get any kind of improvement on your current setup you'd have to go for an Ultra or a good clocking GTX.

Your setup is around the speed of a single GTX.

Personally i'd hold fire totally, you're not going to get a good boost without adding a fair wad of cash to it, as your cards will probably only sell for about £150 combined. Wait for the refresh. :)

Thanks for that. Hmm... that low for selling my old cards? I think I'll wait until the refresh then - although the old cards will probably be worth peanuts then.

One other thought though - whats the likely hood that I'll need a new board too for next gen since I think the asus A8R32MVP deluxe board is only a pci-e 1.0 board?

Also am I able to use internal crossfire (crossfire 2?) boards on this motherboard (crossfire 1?) or does it have to be the original master + standard cards with external mixer cable setup? Another (albeit expensive, power hungry, hot and noisy) option would be 2 2900xt's or something.....or whatever ati release next.

...although this sort of track usually ends up with cpu being upgraded to keep up, new board mem etc... and before you know it, complete new pc... :D

Little point upgrading from 1900XT-xfire at the moment.
I'd wait for next gen (i.e. something faster than a 8800u)
