I hate this card.....
It is slower than my X800xl

auqamark benchmarks are a joke.
To be honest didn't do my homework just realised it as only 12 pipes open.
for example:
my rig with the x800xl on aquamark would give me 64890
on the 1950 pro I get just under 43000.
why is this when the clock speeds are higher?
These bench marks were both run on vista ultimate.

Any ideas guys.

Can you open up more pipe lines on this card?

many thanks.

I wouldn't get hung up over synthetic benchmarks or pipes.

The x1950pro owns the x800xl in every game you try it on.

On average you will see a 50% better performance in games and that's what counts.

Oh and in 3dmark06 the x1950pro scores about double the x800xl plus don't forget the other benefit you now have shader 3 support.

That was the only reason I upgraded my x800xt about 3 months ago. There was too many games I wanted to play which required shader 3 support.

my friends X800XTPE is a damn sight slower than my x1950

im at an 8-9k advantage in 3dm '03

and in games, i can max stuff he gets lag at mid settings on easily

benchies arent everything my son :)

wha you done to yours lol

my 1950 pro owns my x800xl i had previously and plays all recent games i go smooooth with setting all up high

css 100fps +
tf2 80fps+
company of hereos 50fps+

thats with aa and af maxed.

just out of curiosity its not the agp version is it ? cause 7.8 7.9 drivers known to have issues maybe 7.10 also with agp 1950.

As I'm an ex X800XT PE owner and my last card was an x1900xt I can only echo the statements of all of the above. I feel as if my performances doubled from x800 to x1900.

probably ran 2001 or 2003 3dmarks, those require more fillrate due to not much on the shader front.

you need to run 2005 or 2006 3dmark on those 2 cards.

but you are correct, x1950pro has 12 pipes only.

And considering most games use shaders and the x1950pro has a lot of shaders then they perform very well on those games i find.

I get 9550 ish on 3dmark 05 and 5200 or somit on 3d mark 06. Oh and make sure adaptive aa is off when benchmarking etc its a real drainer.

skeeter, you tried any of the new adaptive AA modes? like the multi sampling one? how much performance hit does that make compared to the supersampling version?

I havent tryed the new 7.10 drivers, im stuck on the 7.7 i believe. As i had weird icons with 7.8 drivers and untill i hear otherwise like its fixed and working the new drivers for x1950pro cards im staying with the drivers im on.

But at a guess multi sampling would be 5fps less than without and supersampling would be 10-15fps drop. But as i said its just guesswork till i can try em myself but what i said is what i would expect.

Asus A8v Deluxe mb, i bought the mb cos i was given a 6800 from a mate and was upgrading cpu only and ram at the time. And a mate had this board and said was good and i read reviews and it was good and good clocker board too. So i bought it cheap for 30 quid off a diff forum with a 2nd hand section.

If i didnt have a 6800 off a mate i would have gotten a pci-e version and mb.

PCI-e will be sometime mid next year for me now as no money.

ahh that explains that.

man im gutted too, the agp x1950pro is stuck with driver 7.7, i could have done with the driver 7.10 on it to do some adaptive AA mastering. since the card runs a 32inch lcd i need to get rid of as many jaggies as possible.

I thought that too mate, but just keep an eye on the MM and research how much you bits are worth, as you may be pleasantly suprised.

I thought it would take me years to get on the PCI-E ladder, but found my mobo for £29 at the same time as a 7600GT for £48 and got my dual core for £30 all within a short period, only went over to the x1950 in july and had a pci-e setup from jan.

Yeah I was similar.

Sold my mobo and some idiot paid £50 for it and bought the lanparty for £50.
Sold my x800xl pe for £34 but I did go mad and buy a 8800 GTS for £160 (was just going to buy a x1950pro or 2nd hand x1900xt but I wandered.....)
Sold my 3200+ venice single core for £38  and bought a 4200+ dual core for £54.

Then I went slightly mad and sold my 2 x 512Mb memory chips for £58 and bought 2 x 1 GB for £80 and then sold my 17" screen for £55 and bought a NEC 20WGX2 for £120 :D

So I spent about about £240 all in. Would only have cost £38 to have swapped mobo, processor and memory. And if I had stuck with a new x1950pro my total outlay would have been £110.

So I'm well chuffed with the rig I got for the £240 I spent. I even funded that by selling some old stuff off like an old mobile phone, heatsinks, fans, joypads, a pda. It's amazing what you can find to sell when you look :)

I'm not saying you will do as well as some idiots paid daft prices for some of my stuff but I find sell on the bay and buy on the members market works out the best swap cost.
