Edit: To cut a long question short - these are all the same effectively, right? The middle ones are ground, so it shouldn't matter if they're swapped over?

I bought a power connecter from a local store which was different to my brothers, but modified it to match my brothers. I'm having problems with the computer and want to rule this out as a problem!

Well the crap generic 4 pin [2x] to [1] pci-e adaptor i got didnt fit in my x1950pro but the new psu i got that had pci-e cables fit perfectly and also used all of the holes compared to 2 wires going in one hole.

It did say ati only when i bought the pci-e adaptor which was weird.

Personally im glad i dont have to bother with the adaptor anymore with this great new psu i have, the corsair hx620w btw.

Is there any chance you could explain how your molex to PCI adapter was wired? Or even better, take a photo of it?

Unfortunately I can't afford a new power supply :(

Well the pci-e from psu has 6 seperate wires, tho cant tell which are yellow and black as there all black (black plastic coated). They use 1 in each of 6 holes on pci-e end plug.

The 2x 4pin to 1x 6pin pci-e is weird as such. And ive seen lots of different configs on the net through googling. But this seems the most used way.

Thats what my adaptor looked like anyhow.

Hrm yeah, that's how mine looks too (after changing it).

Oh well, off to my brothers house tomorrow I guess, to swap graphics cards and see if things work properly then.
