Am i to understand that the 2900 has both a 6 pin and 8 pin power connection?

If i were to get one of these cards, would i need to plug in both 6 pin and the 8pin? or can it run from just one 6 pin connection?

you can run it on 2 x 6 pins and use another program to OC it

if you want the CC to OC it you need 1 x 8 pin & 1 x 6 pin.

To run the card you need at least two 6pin cables plugged in. To get overdrive supprt in the CCC you need a 6pin and an 8pin.

ya need 2 power connectors in all the time, 2x 6 pins, or 1x 6pin + 1x 8pin.

2x 6 pins ya can use ati tools to overclock

1x 6pin + 1x 8 pin ya can use ccc to overclock

Well I have connected up both the 6-pin and 8-pin (the Ifiniti has an 8-pin ) but still no Overdrive in CCC ..... so what am I doing wrong ?

make sure its not the 8 pin mobo power connector, dont even know if that would fit in the 8 pin slot on the 2900 but just make sure anyway.

Hhhm, yeah.....well I have just powered down and checked the connections and all seems fine CCC still reckons that there is not sufficient power, though !
