ATI 3870 Connecting to a Blu Ray Surround system

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone can give me some tips/help.

My pc is fitted with a couple of HIS ATI 3870's and i want to watch blu ray movies on my hi def screen, I can connect this via hdmi to my pc with no probs, but what i want to do now is run the audio via my surround sound system rather than the cack speakers i have on my pc.

I understand that the 3870's have AC3 passthrough built in but have no idea on how to get this to the surround sound system.

My soundcard has a sp/dif output and my surround system has 2 digital inputs.

Any help would be grateful.

Unless You are using a HDMI switching AV Amp that may pull the digital audio from Your videocard You would be better to switch audio output to the soundcard and use a digital connection direct to Your sound system.

Any attempt at trying to take a digital output from the Tv would cause sync issues, if it was even possible with Your TV

i run it by HDMI'ing both audio and video into my TV, then using the headphone socket take the audio out & pass it to the surround sound system through a splitter from 3.5mm jack to component which is connected to scart into surround sound. (have to use headphone socket as TV doesn't have any other audio out)

thx for that, i have ordered up a toslink cable and i connecting that from my sound card to my surround and works a treat.
