Ok i friend of mine has stupidly upgraded his Packardbell with 4xGB of RAM, new PSU & 4830.
He's lost his audio.
All Device Manager/Vista picks up is the ATI onboard HDMI "High Definition Audio", not the realtek HD audio onboard chip.
I had the same issue with my 4890 but i changed the BIOS options.
I go into his BIOS (Main, Advanced, Power Boot Exit) > Advanced > Advanced Chipset Features > HDA Chip
its set to AUTO but the only other option is disable. On my board i set it to enable & all was fine.
No disabled audio devices (show all hidden option selected) in Control Panel/ Sound
Any idea's?
