Seems that AMD are looking at more ways to deal with the green camp. The new HD4830 is gonna be released next month on the 21st to compete with the 9800gt.

Looks pretty good I must say and with 640sp, it should still perform well especially with AA as are the rest of the HD4xxx series.

if thats the US price $150 then its going to come in at approx £96 here inc vat for that amount id rather get the 4850
Unless it comes in sub £70 inc vat then it might be worth a second look

Oops - That's what happens when you quickly read posts. Surely there has to be a reason to buy one of these cards so I can't see them being so close to the pricing of the 4850.

If it comes in at under £70 inc VAT then yes its worth looking at as it will be approx £60 cheaper than the 4850 when including vat
Point noted just noticed the <$150 but how much under that is it going to be

Well it's aimed at the 9800gt so it's probably gonne be priced at £80 or thereabouts or even less by the time it comes out. That's what I imagine anyway.

Hmm these charts are pritty well done by amd.

How many people that game at 1900x1200 would buy a very mainstream card.

I would be willing to put money that the 9800gt is better at lower rez(which this card is aimed at)
and better with less AA aswell.

The 9800GT is the same performance as an 8800GT. Which isn't THAT much faster than a 3870. This card has twice the stream procs of a 3870. Now you tell me the 9800GT is faster. :p

love the ATI charts

Awesome arent they, make it look so impressive when most of the time it shows 1.1-1.2 increase ie 10-20% @ huge resolutions, so we are likley talking very small amounts fps wise.

That said could be a killer card if the price is right.

this could tempt me to punt my 9800gtx and get two of these instead should the price of course be of a decent level! its great to see AMD/ATi start to take it to NV again!

Hm, looks pretty good if it's the same price as the majority of 8800 GT (so what? £75-80?) cards floating about. Now all they need to do is introduce that RV770 'LE' (what is apparently a RV770 with a 192-bit bus and only 480 shaders) out in the open to compete with the 9600 GSO/8800 GS and 9600 GT.
