I will be buying a 4850 over the next few days but I am still trying to decide which make of card to buy. All of the cards seem to be built on the reference design and use the same cooler so the only differences that I can see are the price and the length of the warranty. OcUK normally state the length of the warranty in the product description but with the 4850 and 4870 cards they have not done this. I understand that Powercolor only offer a 1 year warranty whereas the Sapphire and HIS cards offer a 2 year warranty.

Can anyone confirm the length of warranties for each manuafcturer?

OcUK would it be possible for you to update the the descriptions with this information?

I would also like the quietest card possible as I do not want to install an after market cooler. Is there any card that is quieter than the others?

Thanks

asus has 3 yrs.. his and sapphire have 2 yrs.. powercolor has 1 yr...

spend the extra and get an asus 512mb (or 1gb if u need that)... far superior warranty (best ati manufacturer for warranty imo).. and comes with nice software aswell as the ability to change fan speeds, as all other 4850 cards dont have the ability.. i've got mine in a box right now, going to install it today :)

I found buried deep a a thread that OcUK would clarify what the warranties are, this was 2 weeks ago. It sounded like they weren't sure themselves. I'm begining to wonder if they have all dropped the warranty to 1yr because of the high temps that the cards run at.

ojrules - does it say anywhere on the asus packaging or documentation that the warranty is 3 yrs or are you assuming so because of the warranty on the other asus models?

They are pretty cool though. 40% fan and people getting 45-50c and below seems pretty good to me.

Yes, but if you fix the fan speed to 40% you burn your card out quicker.
Under auto fan control, yes it idles hot, but the fan can spin to full power when the GPU gets loaded, and hotter. If you nail it to 40%, it never goes above that no matter what you do with load.

Raising the minimum to 40%=good, fixing the lot to 40%=bad.

I've had a reply from OcUK:

Thank you for your web note. All the cards will have 1 year warranty with us, and there may be longer with the manufacturer

So it seems that OcUK still don't know.:(

I have replied asking if they can find out.

well the asus website specifically says all graphics cards and motherboards have 3 year warranties

I agree that the Asus is the best in terms of warranty period. Have you installed it yet? any feedback on the build quality/noise etc would be appreciated.
