Ati 4870 3dmark benchmarks real or fake?

They could only test it on an older amd x2? 0_o
Interesting score, even if it is only peen mark. Most likely bs though.

Smaller Pixel and Texture fill rate than the 8800GTX and something else I noticed was DDR3 being used on the card. Now I have heard that the first variants of the card will be DDR3 but the other information (GPUz) feels off to me for some reason. I think I'll have to stick my 2900Pro in and overclock it and see what GPUz reports back. Maybe the DDR5 card will be a different monster with more bandwidth?.

Well I doubt the CPU will cap it, the more horsepower a GPU will get the further it will be able to push in the GPU Benchmarks. Ok yea the CPU will be limiting the scores by some amount.

actually I've seen amd chips severely bottlenecking the GPU scores of Crossfire setups....3dmark06 is really CPU dependent, and not just in the CPU tests

yep i overclocked my cpu my 3Dmark06 score jumped up by 2200 points.. overclocked my graphics card the score went up 200. :rolleyes:

With the CPU increase you are releasing graphic power as 1280x1024 bottlenecks in 3dmark. So when you increase the CPU speed you are getting a better CPU score as well as releasing more graphic rendering potential that is locked away. Watch your SM2/SM3/HDR scores raise every time you increase the CPU speed.

yeee i was suppecting this... Now to get her @ 3.2/3.4 :rolleyes:

Anyone else notice how in one of the 3Dmark screenshots, '4870' is in a different font to everything else? I could do a more realistic one than that. ._.;

Also, apparently it has 1050MHz GDDR3 now. Yeah that'll happen on an ATi card.

Although to be fair, that's probably not that far off what the scores will be...
