Hi fellow folders im looking to find out how many of you currently fold on this graphics card. ATi 4870 512Mb
What i looking to find out mainly is the PPD this card give's compared to my current 8800 GTS 320Mb
Im currently thinking about my next PC upgrade including cpu and mobo, ive almost decided to go with AMD's Phenom II when it come's out paired up with a 750sb AM2+ mobo which i will choose at a later date.
I know the new AM2+ mobo's dont support SLi so i wont be able to use both my video cards.
So my thinking is to get the graphics perfomance to play games i would drop in a 4870 but still use it to fold when not playing games like i do currently.
Along with one of my 8800 GTS 320Mb

Im currently getting between 7500 - 8500 PPD from both cards prior to this having just the one card i was getting upto 4900 PPD with current WU

At present i dont have the space to run more than 1 pc at a time athough i would if i could (have 4 sitting in a cupboard doing nothing) but also dont wish to lose my current PPD ( both me and the Team cant afford it )

Have a trawl back for some links Biffa posted a couple of months ago and you should find one that helps. I'd be surprised if it's much over 2500, though.

I have read somewhere here, one guy has an nvidia card mixed with ATI card and they worked fine.Although he used one card just for display and one just for folding so it might be worth a try onces you got all your bits.

I have a 4850 borg and it averaged maybe 800 points being on 5-6 hours per day.

You may also find you might be CPU limited too, because the AMD client uses a lot more CPU time than the nvidia client.

I have an 8800GTS 320 and with a 45% OC it's getting approx 4k ppd
