ATI 4870 and mohaa

first of all hello all


currently i have an HD 3870 but i have some major issue with regards to mohaa, but no issue with regards to COD4 and Crysis so i finally given up on my 3870...and mohaa
been having this problem since Nov 07


my question is anybody of u at tried 4870 with mohaa and see if it actually fix the problem in the bridge or any other maps with waters on it

because one of my friend is selling his HD 4870 (Month old ) for £130 and i was thingking of getting it if it works..... (tried all the drivers from 7.11 to 8.10 hotfix still no joy
and is it worth it?

MB: Asus P5WDH
Processor: E6600 @ 3.55Ghz
Ram: Geil ULL 800Mhz 4-4-4-12
PSU: Ocz Games Xtreme 600W
Monitor: Dell 1680 x 1050
Case: Antec 900
Gfx Card: 3870
OS: XP Pro

I'd ask your mate and see if he'd lend you the card for a day or two and see if it the that solves the problem meself. If it does you'd have the choice to buy it or not. And £130 is a reasnable price be it 512mb or 1gb

bad news still having locks on mohaa using 8.10, cracking card on COD 4 though
aa and af on no problem

unfortunately i play mohaa most coz of the server i monitored
so im a bit stuck what to do

That's a shame mate, wish I could help, as I know you need a card by friday.

If no-one else can offer any advice here, it may be worth registering here
and asking for help.

Just been checking the forums on the link I gave you, and some people with 4870 have had some luck with the original drivers that came with their card.
Just check the box I gave you and there should be a driver disc (hopefully), uninstall 8.10 and install the drivers on the cd.

tell me about it mate gutted coz i want the card
ive just seen the 8.11 beta's out so ill give that a go
and see, i suppose mohaa is an old game and needs a patch

its start ok but gradually grind into a halt or stutter, if u ctrl/alt/del and look at the
PF usage its about 4-5 Gb usage and then if u close the games and everything goes back to normal

Have you tried reinstalling the game and patching to the latest versh? Also, did you have an Nvidia card in the pc previously? If so, did you run driver cleaner to ensure all previous drivers were removed completely?

I must have reinstall the games 20 times and install the 1.11 patch still the same and also use Driver cleaner pro evrytime i uninstall driver to clear any previous driver


Yep i had the 7600GT b4 and no issue what so ever, i bought the 3870 because of COD 4

so perhaps the easiet solution might be to go back to nvidia
how does the 8800GT sound especially the Gigabyte is on for £70 in ere

Hi mate,

Like I said earlier uninstall latest drivers and install the drivers from the sapphire cd included in the box (8.6 I think). Apparently some people have had no problems with theses drivers.

Make sure you install them from the cd though.

Mines working fine, course just played through the first level, and a little fart about on multiplayer. Mine's patched to the last patch that was released.
