this has probably been asked before but, is there any major difference between a HD3870 and the 4870, is it worth the extra £90 or so.

Big difference in performance, if you do quite a bit of gaming 4870 is the way to go.

If you haven't already got a 3870 the yes, even a 4850 is better.

Even if you have got a 3870 the 450 is still a brilliant upgrade from what I see, especially where AA is concerned!

Agreed, AA's been fixed in the 4800's, they hardly take a hit with it now, they much faster than the 3800's.

yes, and the 4850s are about 100 only

and 4870s about 175 (not cheap enough

for me but a v fast card)

Ok, i think i am to get the HIS 4870, i have always gone with HIS, i prefer there cooling.

All cards are using the reference cooler at the moment, I think HIS are releasing cards with different coolers at the end of next month.

4850 is "the card" to get at the moment especially if you clock it.

clock it and mod it, not everyone will like to be raising the voltages and using pencil.

i would rather get a 4870 and not have to clock it, than get a 4850 and clock it. I am not fussed at the price, i was going to get a nvidia, but these seem really good.

Also, at the moment i have e2180 @ 2.00, should i overclock, or get a q6600 and overclock that.
