Hi

This may be a sign of madness!

I am hearing a very high pitched ringing noise , coming intermitantly from my speakers and I think its being generated by the ATI card . The reason I am coming to that assumption is , that I have disabled the Creative sound card , and also updated its drivers which would be the obvious step and it makes no difference. However if I uninstall the Catalyst drivers, the problem goes away . I have a suspicion its something to do with the HDMI audio on the ATI card because I am pretty sure this problem was not evident before ATI integrated the HDMI drivers .

Has anyone else experienced this ?

Have you tried disabling the HDMI audio output on the ATi card?
On Vista/Win 7 right click the volume symbol in the task bar and go to playback devices. Right click > Disable on the the ATi HDMI output.

yeah, already thought of that . It definately stops once the drivers are uninstalled . I wonder is it a driver conflict between the ati driver and the creative driver ?
