ATI 5450 Question

I noticed these are going cheap on the site and i am thinking of getting one to stick in my mums comp when i upgrade it.

Just wondering about the power of these cards. Now i know it ain't going to run Crysis maxed out for obvious reasons but my mum does play a lot of these hidden object type games which occasionally have graphical effects in.

How do these cards stand up to say for example an old Geforce 6800GT or an ATI 9800?

I'll be running it with a AMD 4400X2 and 2GB or ram.

Hi there,

For those uses the 5450 should be fine. This card is pretty much on the level of the graphics core in the sandy bridge K series CPUs (the Intel HD 3000) so for low-level stuff is perfectly fine. In fact it can even play COD at playable framerates - so long as you turn the resolution and settings way down.

So long at the board accepts PCI-E cards then you are golden. The power requirements of the card are very low (19.1W maximum) so unless the PSU is already at the limit or very poor then it shouldn't have problem.

Sorry to Hijack your thread but I just bought a 5450 to replace an old x800gt(256mb) and was surprised to find that my graphics WEI score went from 5.9 to 2.1.

I've got the latest drivers installed so don't know why replacing a 6 year old card would give me such a rubbish score.

Ok thanks fella's, i have ordered one. Got to be worth a punt at £18.. it would be rude not too lol.
It is only for very light use so many thanks for the info there cmndr_andi, very much appreciated bro.

Hencore, i assume it is because the x800gt has better 3D capabilities than the 5450 hence the higher score.
Not really sure on this as i have never used either card but that said i wouldn't worry too much on the WEI scores. Does it perform well in the real world with games e.t.c ?
