Hi

Got this card on Tuesday from OcUk. Having the same problems as many other people it seems. Gaming and temps are all fine but the startup is not good. Between pressing the on button and the first (POST) load screen loading up there is a 30 second delay in which my screen goes into standby mode.

Everything else is good but this is worrying none the less. ASUS released a new bios to combat the problem for their MOBO but I have a Gigabyte MOBO so no such luck.

Does anyone know a way to fix this or should I just RMA the card and get a GT430? Would it have the same problems?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Got a Gigabyte M61PMW-S2P motherboard. Not tried a bios update and don't really think it will work. I dunno if the card is likely to stop working at some point if I keep using it as it is a bit worrying waiting 30 seconds for anything to happen.

This sounds like the Radeon 5000 series cold bug issue but I thought this had been eliminated by the time of the 5500 release. You might want to think about flashing the BIOS on your video card but I'm grasping at straws the trouble is around here not many people use cards like the 5500 you might want to try sending an email to Asus direct.

Have you made sure in the BIOS it boots looking for the graphics card on PCI-Express 1st not the onboard Graphics ? Also Disable the onboard graphics if it is enabled too in the BIOS. I would also do a BIOS update on that motherboard, when the 5*** series cards came out their were many motherboard BIOS updates to fix errors with the 5*** series, one famous one was the "brown screen" problem some had. Also if there is a new BIOS for the graphics card update that too.
