Hi

I dont seem to be able to overclock 2 Asus 5770's with any success at all.

If I overclock both the core and memory together my system locks up and I have to start task manager to kill what ever application I'm testing with.

When I up the core to 900 it seems ok or the memory to 1300 but when I try them both overclocked together I get lock ups. I've also tried upping the core voltage upto 1.250 but its still not stable.

They both work perfectly at stock settings. Temps seem ok one gets to the high 70's buts that because theres a Xfi soundcard next to it with very little clearance.

Any advice welcome.

My system DFI X48 LT T2R, Corsair TX750, 4gb Kingston HyperX DDR2 8500, Creative XFi Xtreme Gamer, Lian Li PC525FB case.

Youre best bet is to keep upping the voltage till it becomes stable! otherwise you'll have to find lower clocks that both gpu's will run at stable. Correct me if im wrong but i thought with crossfire if you have one card pants for overclocking then the other one suffers aswell?

I wouldnt really be worried about overclocking them to be fair, its not like they dont play most games maxed out with respectable FPS anyways!

Very true they do play all games at a respectable frame rate I was just curious as to why mine dont seem to overclock like I've some others.

It's worth overclocking them because, well why not for free performance and little heat increase.

Tomshardware said they noted an increase of only 6 watts when they overclocked their 5770 to 895/1400

I wouldn't bother faffing with the volts though may aswell just leave it stock and live with what they max out at

Thanks for the reply Tom.

The problem I have is I cant seem to overclock the memory and GPU together without lockups I then have to close the application I was testing with task manager.

Maybe one is a poor overclocker ?

I think I'll try Auto tune in the ccc but from the looks of it, its going to take a while to run fully.

Until there is a proper tool to raise the voltages and core above 960 its not worth it.
Otherwise you would either need to run AMD GPU tool or flash the BIOS. Its a pain having lots of little programmes running in the background and flashing the BIOS is out of the question without a backup card, even then there is a very small chance it can't be reflashed / recovered.

Hi PanMaster

I dont need to flash the BIOS on my cards they are the Asus voltage tweak models. I've tried upping the vcore with Asus smartdoctor and MSI afterburner but still cant get a stable overclock on both the core and memory at the same time. Don't know what I'm missing ?

Or maybe one of the cards just wont overclock ?
