Hi, i bought an XFX Ati 5870 graphics card about 4 months ago and have recently decided to overclock it.

I set it to 900/1300 in overdrive and it passed the test, but the current values at the bottom say 157/300.

Is there any way to fix this?

I thought it might be something like that, if so is there any way to turn it off?

Also I noticed when i open up overdrive the current values aren't always the same. Sometimes it says 900/1300 and others it says 157/300, is there any software that could tell me the true setting it's at?

Thanks.

The card downclocks to save power when idle as there is not much point running full speed when on the desktop. It will ramp up to full speed when it needs to :)

Does over clocking using ccc brake the power play?

I'm scared to over clock my 5870. Had a bad experience with my old 3870x2 where it got stuck to 59hz refresh after over clock.

After over clocking using ccc, is it set and forget, ie I set the clocks test with in built ccc tester and then, every time my pc starts or reboots clocks are automatically set?

Thanks for the replies, card seems to be running at the correct settings, was just the random number for the current settings that would keep changing every time i opened ccc that made me think it wasn't working at the correct settings.

Once you overclock it in ccc, the settings are saved if your card passes the test for those settings, no need to set them every time you restart the pc.
