I have a 5870 it has been completely fine then randomly last night it is stuck at 99% load the fan is extremely loud and at about 80% and the temps are at 80 degrees.....

This is with nothing at all except desktop... No games, nothing... Just randomly stuck at 99% load and full fan speed... Out of nowhere.... This is triggered by playing a video and then it just stays like that until the PC is shut down...

Is there any known fixes for this?

WHY has this randomly happened? As I type now the GPU 99% load fan extremely loud and temperature 80+ degrees.... NO GRAPHICS OR VIDEO at all just desktop..... This just randomly happened for no reason I can tell??!?! Is it a known bug? I tried updating drivers and cleaning old ones etc...

If you have Afterburner installed, this can conflict with AMD drivers. Uninstall Afterburner and use Trixx to overclock.

Also if you have been watching a youtube movie/clip, under flash settings, disable hardware acceleration.

Thanks for reply but it is not any of those things...

Eugh this is the last time I buy an ATI card....

Ahh sorry to hear. I remember someone having the issue before and that sorted it for them.

You could try different drivers but I would assume you have done this.

Seems to be OK on the 10.10 drivers but these are sooooo out of date!

I will have to try some others and see which ones work....

Just another one of many problems with ATI... Never seem to have anything like this with Nvidia... Ah well I know which brand I will be getting next time! (not ATI)
