ATI 6850 hdmi sound issue :(

sorry wasn't sure which section to put this is ....

i recently got hold of a brand new ati 6850 ( sapphire ) and alls fine .. except for a slight issue with sound via hdmi

when i got into playback devices it shows as the hdmi being disconnect ( even tho picture is fine ) , but if i pull the hdmi kead out of the card and then back in again, it wil show as teh hdmi connection as ready .. and i can then use the sound.

i'm using cats 12.4 anyone else had this issue ?

I've got the same problem, it's a Cat 12.4 issue. I've uninstalled the sound driver and gone back to my one from 12.2 for now.

am i better off totally removing 12.4 and downloading 12.2 ?

Ah so this is a 12.4 issue, as I also experience this? I recently installed a new 7950 and updated from 12.2 in the process. I assumed it was the new card playing up. I quite often have to uninstall the sound driver, reboot and let it auto install again just to play sound out of my TV. This did not used to happen.

So 12.2 may be the answer?

used 12.2 seems to have fixed the problem

this is after 1 reboot .. i'll report back when i next switch on pc , get fed up with havign reboot with ccc re-insatlls lol
