ATI 6870 died?

Been having a couple of problems in the last week with games locking up and forced BSOD restarting.

Today booted into Windows and lost signal to the monitor. So i turned off PC and switched back on, I could see the BIOS but it was all fuzzy and spectrum style graphics Could not get into Windows at this point, and still cannot, so I took out the 6870 and put in a old GeForce 7300LE which works fine.

So I guess the card is dying or very much dead??

Which 6870 is this? VTX? or reference ati one? btw, was the bluescreen atikmpag.sys error?

Yup it was the red VTX one, and I dont know about the blue screen error, never checked it.

ah looks like I will be doing the same then. I heard of bad driver problems with this card, but didnt think they were this bad. The card was great when it worked, but too many problems.
