ati 6870 eyefinity

Hello
I plan on getting an ati 6870 card,
which i plan to do some eyefinty over three apple 20" monitors,
The monitors res is 1600 x 1050 each monitor.
Is this graphics card over the top for the monitors as i wont be uprading the monitors for a long time.

5040x1050 then when running games in eyefinity, I would say one 6870 is underpowered for that res not overpowered, game depending.

Of course if gaming is secondary to your needs then a 6870 is perfect for eyefinity, even a 6850 would do the job

This machine will be only for playing games.
So the 6870 will be fine.

So is the 6870 not an ati top end card?
What ati card would you recomend then ?

2x6870 in Crossfire, or wait for the 6970 or wait longer for the 6990.

Or get an Nvidia card, they have that Surround stuff similar to Eyefinity

Except you need 2 of them to run 3 monitors.

think I'd still agree you should wait if you have the budget though, no doubt the 6870 will struggle with more graphically intensive games at that resolution
