ATI 6870 too hot?

I have finally taken the plunge and upgraded my ATI 1600 GPU as I nneded to use Hitfilm :)

However it seems to run quite hot. GPUZ reports 58 - 62C on idle with the fan speed around 27%. Is that too hot? Specs are in sig.
 
A little too hot. You have the latest drivers?

Mine ran to around 70-75c while on 100% usage. And sounded like concorde taking off :D
 
Yep got the latest drivers and catalyst.

According to reviews, it should run about 40C when idle :eek: Not sure what to do, I've got a new CPu cooler coming (Noctua NH-U12P SE2) which will hopefully cool the whole system. Not sure what else to do.
 
Mine runs at 46c at idle and goes up to about 75c when under load.

Reference cooling on the card and not overclocked.

Good air flow through your case is important.
