Hi OC,

I have just bought the MSI ATI Radeon HD 6970 2048MB Twin Frozr III GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card from you. And am having some issues with it.

I have 2 monitors:
Dell 3007WFP (30")
and the Samsung S27A750DS

The Dell only has a single HDMI connector which is plugged into 1 of the HDMI sockets on the graphics card.

And the Samsung is plugged in via DVI cable to DVI slot on the card.

The problem is the NVIDIA I had running run everything fine and no problems at all. However the 6970 is drawing dots all over the dell screen and some strips or lines flash every so often this they appear to always be Red or Green. The strange thing is that it doesn't draw the dots on the Samsung screen.

I've tried various different cables and adapters but it always ends up with the dots... Often the dell wont even turn on with some cables, adapters and port plugged into on the card.

Also the card has some LED lights on it. The instructions supplied by msi was just on how to open a box and plug it in. It didn't say what they are for at all and I've been googling and there is not much about it there either. But red usually means bad, I have all 3 red led's lit...

Machine spec:
PSU: 650w
RAM: 12GB DDR3
OS: Win 7 x64
HDs: 4 SATA + 1 SSD
OPTICAL: 1 x BR RWDrive
GFX CARD: ATI Radeon HD 6970 2048MB

Here are some photos of the issue from my mobile.

Return it. Something is screwed. The LEDs will tell you which error but who cares about that, it's obviously no bueno.

The LED's don't tell you what's wrong with it.

They indicate the power phases and it's normal for some to be red and some to be green.

However, the card does appear faulty and should be returned.

Several of these cards have been reported as faulty in the forum, usually they're overheating.

After a bit more research I found the reason some of my other HDMI cables were not working, the one that is working, is a dual link and the others are single link (the dell monitor 30" at native res is more than those cable can handle). But still dots everywhere.

I've sent an RMA in this morning (11:30) to Overclockers with links to this forum and some additional info... Now waiting for their reply...

Cheers for all the info guys :)

For the native resolution of the monitor you shouldn't be using HDMI at all.

You need a dual link DVI-D cable connected to the dual link DVI connector on the graphics card (only one of them is dual link).
