ATI 6990 & PCIE 3.0

Greetings Folks,

Was looking to upgrade my system at some point,
Does any one know if the 6990 will run ok on pcie 3?
Also would there be any prominence boost due to this card being limited with pcie 2 bandwidth?

No real gain to be had, maybe a few fps here or there. The 6990/7970/680 do not use up enough bandwidth to bottleneck pci-e2.0x16.

A 7990/gtx690 on the other hand might gain a few percent from the extra bandwidth.

AS Optimal says below it will only run at 2.0 speed anyway as the card doesn't support 3.0.

PCI-E 3.0 is worth an extra 26 3DMark11 points over 2.0 in my rig.

yes it will run on a pcie3 board. but not at pcie3 bandwidth.

A 7990/gtx690 on the other hand might gain a few percent from the extra bandwidth.

Yep, I've got two of them, but running PCIE2.0 as they're not compliant with PCIE3.0 anyway... also, not sure if my i7 3820 is even PCIE3 compliant anyway...so...

6990 doesnt support pcie3 at all so nothing worth thinking about!
