i wouldnt have shoehorned my 5850 in to my lc17b if it didnt have a blower. they have their place and as long as they are suitable for the application, there is nothing wrong with them.

Then I don't understand. Was it top or rear exhaust ? (I assume the CPU sink fan was oriented to push air in the same direction as exhaust)
