ATI 9.6

I hope not, the card's out of warranty now I guess, and I'd rather not have to shell out to get a replacement.

That's not necessarily the end of your ability to claim replacement with a warrenty though.

I haven't read through your thread yet so I'm just making a quick reply,

But if your problems are long standing and are possibly a manufacturing defect, then the warrenty means nothing for getting a replacement.

I had a 3870X2 that had bad RAM on it. I couldn't work out for ages what the problem was, it seemded to be many things, even my RAM at once point, because my PC wouldn't play games with all my RAM slots filled.

Anyway, after having my X2 for 3 months, it had become unusable, so I sent it in for RMA which confirmed it to be faulty, and since it was in such a short period of time was deemed a manufacturing flaw.

Well I got a refund on it and saved the money for a 4850 crossfire setup, which has been fine since the day I bought it.

Does anyone have any idea if the latest drivers have had a positive effect (lessened) the idle power consumption of ATI's GDDR5 equipped cards?

Can not see that happening as memory clock changes cause display flicker, You need to edit a bios with lower memory clocks across the board and rely on CCC overdrive to switch to high clocks for demanding 3D games.

I was having trouble before, it wasnt picking up my monitor and res.

Updated and fixed that and now its broken the fps!!
